“How are the children?”

The theme “How Are the Children” is based on the Maasai tribe of Kenya belief that all is well within the tribe if the children are well. But for mothers in Chicago, the answer would be “the children are not well.’ We are losing our children at an alarming rate to gun violence. Our children are not safe at school, home, or play. The Gun Violence

Archive reported that since the beginning of 2022, there have been thirty-four hundred and eight (3408) children under 18 years old shot, and twelve hundred and forty-one killed in the USA. In Chicago, more than 400 shot and at least 34 killed so far this year. Mothers are living in the valley of Baca (Psalm 84:6), a place of anxiety, depression, and despair.

Politicians and law enforcement out of options on how to save the children, bring hope to families, and peace-of-mind to the community. This is the basis for the four chosen topics: “Health of the Children,” “Health of Mothers,” and “Health of the Community.” Stake-holders, community activists, mental health practitioners, and prayer warriors include:

Rev. Melody Seaton, Rev. Andrea Davidson, Min. Renita Ward, Dr. Blaire Lewis, Ms. Artinese Myrick, and Mr. Andrew Holmes will join in prayers of intersession and petition for “help from on high” because prayer changes things.
